Her career path serves as an inspiring example, particularly for young women aspiring to excel in their fields. With an H-index of 21 and over 1,189 citations in the Scopus/WoS database as of November 10, 2022, she has established herself as a prolific researcher. Her contributions include co-authoring 80 scientific papers, with 15 of them as the first author and 35 as the corresponding author. Additionally, she has written numerous popular science publications, press releases, and appeared on television programs.

Impressively, at the age of 37, she became the youngest full professor in Poland. In the same year, she assumed the role of Head of the Department of Cancer Biology at Warsaw University of Life Sciences in Warsaw, Poland. Her remarkable achievements have been recognized with nearly 20 international and national awards, such as the EU Prize for Women Innovators 2020 finalist, Crystal Brussels 2020 recipient, the Scientific Award of the POLITYKA Weekly (in a competition among 170 scientists), the L’Oreal and UNESCO & For Women and Science Scholarship, Winner of the Poles with Verve plebiscite, and Man of the Year awarded by Gazeta Wyborcza daily.

Acknowledging her influential role in the scientific community, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education appointed her as a ‘Science Ambassador’ to promote the profession of scientists among young people. She also played a pivotal role in the “TOMORROWnauts” initiative launched by The International News Media Association (INMA), Kulczyk Investments, and Gazeta Wyborcza. This initiative aimed to spotlight talented and inspiring founders from various industries who have the power to shape the future. Her research served as a prime example of groundbreaking work with the potential to shape the future, leading to the creation of the movie “Magdalena,” which premiered at the Festival de Cannes in 2019.

Having established collaborations with 12 renowned researchers, she has further expanded her impact through the founding of spin-off companies, Cellis Sp. z o.o. and Cellis AG. To enhance her knowledge in intellectual property protection, commercialization of scientific research, technology transfer, and start-up acceleration, she participated in training courses and emerged as the winner of an accelerator program’s final. Additionally, she completed the Advanced Business Development Course in Denmark.

Her expertise and research contributions have garnered significant recognition, resulting in invitations to deliver lectures at prestigious events and conferences worldwide. Notable speaking engagements include the European Forum for Science, Research and Innovation in Dresden, Germany, co-organized by the European Research Council in June 2019, conferences organized by the American Association for Cancer Research in 2020, and a Public Hearing in the European Parliament titled “New ERA for Research and Innovation” in 2021, where she was invited by Mr. Cristian-Silviu BUŞOI, Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research, and Energy (ITRE). She also delivered a TED Talk in 2018, further propagating her scientific research to a broader audience.

Her impact extends to the mentorship and training of young researchers. She has supervised 25 completed scientific theses, including five PhD, 12 MSc, and eight bachelor’s/ingeneer theses. Additionally, several pending PhD theses are under her guidance. Her dedication to training young researchers is evident as her students have completed fellowships at esteemed institutions worldwide, such as the University of Edinburgh (UK), Groningen University (The Netherlands), University ‘La Sapienza’ (Italy), University of Bergen (Norway), NUIG Galway (Ireland), Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), INRA (France), Medical University of Southern Carolina (USA), University Hospital of Zurich (Switzerland).
